Sparkrock's Customer Success Center

Solution Overview

Solution Overview

The key components involved in Sparkrock's Manage - Finance and Manage - Workforce Solutions include:

  • Database Servers
  • NAV Application Servers
  • Employee Center Application Servers
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Windows Clients
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Client via supported web browsers

It is recommended that each server is hosted on a standalone (where it is the only major service) physical/virtual machine to optimize performance.

Key Components

Database Servers

Running on Microsoft SQL Database Servers; these servers house all of the information the solution uses in encrypted databases and are accessed by the Application Servers.

NAV Application Servers

Using Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Application Servers; these middle/service tier servers manage all interactions between the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Clients using the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Windows Client or Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Client and the Database Servers. In addition to the core Dynamics NAV Application Server, these also include a Dynamics NAV Help Server, a Dynamics NAV Webserver, as well as services for providing features such as reporting or optional Dynamics CRM integration.

Employee Center Application Servers Running on Microsoft Sharepoint 2013SP1 Servers; Sparkrock's Employee Center integrates with the NAV Application Servers to provide end users with the ability to access features in NAV relating to an individual employee remotely.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Windows Client

The standalone Microsoft Windows based client that connects to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Application Servers.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Client

Access the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Application Servers via a webpage in a supported browser.

Server Hardware Requirements

At minimum to properly implement and maintain our solution we require:

  • Two Microsoft SQL Databases

    • One for your production NAV environment's SQL database

    • One for your QA NAV environment's SQL database

    • It is recommended these be hosted in separate instances on individual standalone physical/virtual machines

  • Two Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Application Server Instances

    • One for your production NAV environment

    • One for your QA (Quality Assurance) NAV environment

    • It is recommended these be hosted on individual standalone physical/virtual machines

  • Two Sparkrock Employee Center Instances

    • One for your production NAV environment

    • One for your QA (Quality Assurance) NAV environment

    • It is recommended these be hosted on individual standalone physical/virtual machines

That is a recommended total of six separate physical/virtual machines hosting our solution. Specific requirements for each server are listed in the Detailed Server/Client Hardware/Software Requirements.
