Managing Application Areas

This topic explains how to manage application areas in Sparkrock 365.

Use the Application Areas page to let you hide or display certain user interface elements based on the application area to which they belong. These settings are company-wide and apply to all users.

Note: Application Areas that are part of the Finance and Procurement granule require that you use the Department Manager role center.

Managing Application Areas by Company

To manage Application Areas for your company:

  1. Click Tell Me and search for Application Area Setup. Select the page from the drop-down list.
    The Application Area Setup page displays.

  2. Complete the following in the General FastTab:
    • US Specific: specifies that users for this company have access to US specific functionality.
    • Canada Specific: specifies that users for this company have access to Canada-specific functionality.
    • K12: specifies that users for this company have access to K12 functionality.
  3. Complete the following in the Finance and Procurement FastTab:
    • Finance and Procurement: specifies that users for this company have access to Finance and Procurement functionality.
    • Requisitions Processing: specifies that users for this company have access to Requisition Processing functionality.
    • Payment Requests Processing: specifies that users for this company have access to Payment Requests processing functionality.
    • Expense Claims Processing: specifies that users for this company have access to Expense Claims processing functionality.
    • Basic: specifies that users for this company have access to the basic records on the other functionally specific limited access application areas.
    • Purchase Orders: specifies that users for this company have access to for Purchase Order functionality. The user interface is filtered by mySparkrock security settings.
    • Purchase Invoices: specifies that users for this company have access to.
    • Requisitions: specifies that users for this company have access to Requisitions functionality.
    • Payment Requests: specifies that users for this company have access to Payment Requests and Approvals functionality. The user interface is filtered by mySparkrock security settings.
    • Expense Claims: specifies that users for this company have access to Expense Claims and Approvals functionality.
    • Reporting: specifies that users for this company have access to Reporting functionality.
  4. Complete the following in the Workforce FastTab:
    • Advanced HR: specifies that users for this company have access to Advanced HR functionality.
    • Training Management: specifies that users for this company have access to Training Management functionality.
  5. Complete the following in the Scheduling FastTab:
    • Employee Scheduling: specifies that users for this company have access to Employee Scheduling functionality. 
    • Time Clock: specifies that users for this company have access to Time Clock functionality. 

Managing Application Area Access by User Group

Note: before completing this procedure, create the necessary users and user groups.

In addition to managing Application Areas by company, you can also manage application area access by user group. To do this:

  1. Click Tell Me and search for User Group. Select the page from the drop-down list.
    The User Group page displays.

  2. Select the user group for which you want to display Application Area access.
  3. On the Action Bar, click User Group Application Area Setup
    The User Groups Application Areas Setup page displays.

  4. To add or remove permissions to a user group that is already on this page, add or remove checkmarks to the appropriate application areas.
  5. To add a user group to the page, on the Action Bar, click New.
    The User Group Application Area Setup page displays.

  6. Select the user group whose permissions you want to modify from the User Group Code drop-down list.
  7. To specify that the user group should have access to the entire Sparkrock 365 application, turn on the Essential slider.
  8. Turn on the remaining sliders to allow the user group to access that functionality.
